Membership Terms & Conditions

These Membership Terms & Conditions govern membership of Humans in Games Ltd, a company limited by guarantee registered in England and Wales (Company No. 16929971).
1. Membership
Humans in Games Ltd operates as a membership-based organisation supporting people in the video games industry. Membership is granted at the discretion of the organisation and is subject to ongoing compliance with these Terms & Conditions.
Membership is personal, non-transferable, and does not confer ownership, voting rights beyond those set out in the Articles of Association, or entitlement to financial benefit.
2. Eligibility
Membership is open to individuals aged 16 or over, worldwide.
Where a member is under the legal age of majority in their country of residence, parental or guardian consent is required for:
paid memberships,
donations,
recurring payments, or
participation in paid programmes.
Humans in Games reserves the right to request proof of age or consent where necessary.
3. Membership Fees
Membership fees, if applicable, are payable in advance and are set by the Directors from time to time.
Membership fees are not donations unless explicitly stated and do not entitle members to refunds except where required by law.
4. Donations
Donations are voluntary contributions made to support the objectives of Humans in Games Ltd.
Donations:
do not automatically confer membership,
are not refundable except where required by law, and
may be used at the discretion of the organisation to support its mission and activities.
5. Learning, Bootcamps, and Programmes
Members may be offered access to learning opportunities including, but not limited to:
online courses,
bootcamps,
workshops,
mentoring,
educational or professional development programmes.
Participation may be subject to:
additional terms and conditions,
eligibility criteria,
safeguarding requirements,
age restrictions, or
programme-specific fees,
which will be communicated at the time of enrolment.
6. Member Conduct
Members are expected to act respectfully and professionally in all interactions related to Humans in Games.
Members must:
comply with the Code of Conduct,
behave in a manner consistent with the organisation’s values and objectives, and
refrain from conduct that could harm the organisation, its members, or its reputation.
7. Safeguarding
Humans in Games Ltd is committed to maintaining a safe and inclusive environment.
Certain activities, events, programmes, or community spaces may be restricted to individuals aged 18 or over. Additional safeguarding measures may apply to members under 18.
8. Termination of Membership
Humans in Games may suspend or terminate membership if a member:
fails to pay applicable membership fees,
breaches these Terms & Conditions,
violates the Code of Conduct, or
acts in a manner contrary to the organisation’s objectives.
Termination of membership does not entitle a member to any refund unless required by law.
9. Data Protection
Personal data is processed in accordance with:
the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR),
the Data Protection Act 2018, and
the organisation’s Privacy Policy.
10. Governing Law
These Membership Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
