I’ve spent most of my life hating first-person shooters; confused, disoriented, and dead before I even knew what hit me. And yet, somehow, I can’t stop playing games like Fortnite and Marvel Rivals.

Turns out, the difference is simple: I don’t hate shooters, I just need to see myself while I’m playing.

Friendslop games have become the modern way to hang out, less couch co-op, more chaotic Discord calls. Since Among Us, the genre has thrived on shared panic, bad decisions, and laughter.

Some burn out fast. Others, like Lethal Company, prove there’s more to it than just messing around.
